Stuntin' in my Manolo's

Before Carrie on Sex and the City made him a household name, Manuel "Manolo" Blahnik was a very esteemed and successful fashion designer known for his high end shoes. Starting his career in the 70's his brand name became synonymous luxury glamor and royalty. With his impeccable craftsmanship and eye for detail, Manolo's have become the symbol of pure classical style.

What Were You Thinking?

My favorite female rapper Nicki Minaj is infamous for her multiple personality and and quirky, sexy, weird style; but this time she went too far! She recently presented an Award at the 2010 American Music Awards in a couture dress by Manish Arora. I think the dress is way to much but it fits her personality. At least she paired it with a cute pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. *Sidenote: the hair looks fab!*

Shoe-cap of the 2010 VMA's

As usual, there were a lot of hit and misses at the awards show. Some of the best dressed belonged to Katy Perry and Ciara, and other questionable outfits belonged to Ke$ha. And of course, Lady Gaga had multiple outfit changes each one increasing in creativity and ... uniqueness. All that aside, the shoes were amazing this year, see for yourself. (All images via)

The French and Italian "G's"

It wouldn't be fair to feature one and not the other so i decided to give you both Givenchy and Gucci. Gucci and Givenchy were two power houses in high fashion shoes this past season. Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Italy. Givenchy was founded in 1952 by fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy in France. Both houses had some of the best designers we've ever known, from Calvin Klein to Alexander McQueen.

The Culminating C

Christian Louboutin is a name synonymous to fashion. Known for his iconic red soles, Christian Louboutin has been a trend setter and leader since he debut in the 1990's. He single handedly brought stilettos back into style with heel heights of 4.5 inches and higher. Even though he does offer some lower-heeled styles, Christian Louboutin is generally associated with his formal and evening wear designs. The following shoes are featured in his Spring 2010 collection. (Images via and via)

Is This A New Trend?

Finally the fashion world is having a strong influence in the hip hop world. Lately baggy jeans hanging off their butt and over sized shirts with the latest jordans are being replaced with tailored fit jeans and button down shirts with a good pair of loafers (a small step but progress indeed). And it looks like some fashion houses are helping my brothers make the transition to high fashion; with Christian Louboutin trailblazing the way. Christian Louboutin has released a new collection of shoes geared to the fashion conscious male. The Rollerball (displayed above) is by Christian Louboutin and have been seen rap icons like Kanye West and Swizz Beatz. The Louis a high fashion sneaker is also a must have in any guys wardrobe. If I had that special someone he would definitely be getting these for his birthday (assuming I had the money lol). Check the jump for more pics.

That's ... Interesting

Now your shoes can match your bright personality. These new Jimmy Choo shoes look simplistic in design, patent leather straps with trendy color block platforms and heals. But  technology has met fashion right at the heel, with a small LED light implanted in the heal that lights up every time you take a step. The Zap is a platform sandal with a 5.1'' heel made of patent leather and suede; and retails for $2,495. It will be available sometime this spring but is available for pre-order now.

French Vogue Blacklisted ?!?

EXTRA EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Todays headline: French Vogue has been blacklisted from Balenciaga via Max Mara.
French Vogue's editor in chief, Carine Roitfeld used to do consults for Balenciaga before she was removed for committing a high fashion cardinal sin. She allegedly asked Balenciaga for samples to put in an upcoming editorial shoot, but one of the coats ended up at Max Mara's design studio, where it was copied and then sent back to Paris.

Almost everyone has to promised that they'll shoot the head to toe runway look and samples are usually lent out for a day at a time. Balenciaga is known for their rigidity with their samples, so when they head about Max Mara, they were livid.

Steve Madden Was ... Sued!?!?

Take a close look, at the shoes above; A real close look.... well, any differences? The shoe on the right is a Balenciaga original and the one on the left is a Steve Madden knockoff. And for this reason Balenciaga is suing Steve Madden for "copying and infringement". In the fall of 2007 Balenciaga released these Lego inspired shoe, and by the start of 2008 Steve Madden released its shoe with an undeniable resemblance to Balenciaga for only $100. Which was a steal being that Balenciaga shoe retailed for $4175. Balenciaga isn't the only one suing Steve Madden, Alexander McQueen is also filing suit for the copying of its Black Faithful Bootie.
